Welcome to the 2015 Agenda for Children Out of School Time Symposium registration page. One this page you will find a variety of workshops led by colleagues from across the city. The content reflects both the passion of the workshop leaders and the desires of the community based on the symposium survey results. We hope that this symposium opportunity serves to inspire, connect and provide professional development opportunities for workshop leaders and participants alike!

This year there is more built in opportunity for Networking, Play Spaces and Reflection. Please plan to participate in these community connection spaces. 

The mission of the Agenda for Children Out of School Time Initiative is to convene, catalyze and support the youth serving community in Cambridge for the shared purpose of increasing equity, access and innovation and by sustaining the highest quality out of school time opportunities and experiences for all children youth and families.

Dance Science: Integrating Movement into the Classroom FILLING

This workshop will present 3 scalable dance science activities that are geared towards sparking initial student interest in science. The first activity will target K-2 students. The second will target 3-5th grade students. The third will target middle school girls. Topics will include: Dizziness, Astronomy, and Physics. While the workshop will focus on securing initial interest and buy in from students, options will be presented for scaffolding towards deeper learning.

Adaptations will also be provided where necessary for students with physical disabilities.

The workshop will open with a brief presentation on the science of sedentary behavior, highlighting the importance of movement in every classroom.
